Students aged 18+
Spring Term 2019
THIS PROJECT IS NOT CURRENTLY RECRUITING
Year 8 English Mentoring
You will receive training from the Central South Consortium to create a scheme of work based around Year 8 pupils’ English studies. You will then go into local schools to deliver these sessions, with another volunteer, during after school homework clubs. The aim of the project is to raise pupils aspirations and attainment in class. For volunteers, this is a great way to gain classroom experience and learn from experts from the Consortium.
You will be working with the more able and talented students in our First Campus schools (schools with high numbers of deprivation or free school meals). They will be in local schools and all transport will be provided.
Prior to going into the schools, you will receive training from the Central South Consortium and develop your lesson plan. The Consortium will also take you into Hub schools to observe lessons.
The entire project will run for 12 weeks during the Spring term, including training, going into Hub Schools and delivering 6 weeks of sessions in a school.
Training: Half day sessions during the week. Transport provided.
Delivery: 2 hour sessions maximum, afternoons – day will depend on school and your availability. Transport provided.
