There are many different reasons why you should volunteer, here are just a few:
**1. IT’S REWARDING**
There is nothing better than seeing someone smile. It is even better seeing someone smile that you've helped. Whether this is volunteering on one of our mental health projects or spending time with young careers, it's a great feeling for both parties.
**2. IT’S FUN**
Nothing more to say about that one.
**3. IT GETS YOU OUT**
It's so easy to get stuck in the "university bubble" as a student, or just generally get lost in everyday life and routine. Volunteering offers a sometimes much-welcomed change of scenery, and with that often comes a change of mindset.
**4. MEET NEW PEOPLE**
SVC offers like-minded individuals a place to meet! It can be a great way of getting to know new people and we also have a variety of different social events planned, including our ball in February...so keep your eyes peeled.
**5. IT CAN LEAD TO A CAREER**
“Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life.” It can help you to decide what you want to do after graduation, or provide a starting point for a change in career.
**6. IT’S INSPIRING**
The people you meet volunteering can offer you positive and inspiring stories about their experiences. It's a good mood booster for those January blues.
**7. ENHANCE YOURSELF**
Volunteering gives you a different perspective and helps you improve on many different transferable skills. Great for your CV and eve greater for you.
**8. NO LIVER DAMAGE!**
Freshers, this is one for you.
**9. BECOME MORE INVOLVED**
If you feel as passionately as we do about the charity you can always apply to join the SVC board!
**10. IT’S NOT SIGNING YOUR LIFE AWAY**
You're a final year medic with work coming out of your ears? Got a full-time job? Don't worry there are so many different projects, you don't have to commit to one that takes up hours and hours of your week. There are even weekend projects... and you can still have a life outside volunteering.
